We know Buddy Boating is a unique concept to many people and a lot of questions come up! We did our best to answer our most frequent questions here. Don’t hesitate to Contact Us if we can provide you with any other information.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH LAKES ARE AVAILABLE?
  • Lakes with available boats will only appear
  • Boats are currently available at:
    • Boyd Lake State Park, Loveland
    • Timnath reservoir
    • Windsor Lake
    • Cherry Creek State Park, Denver
    • Lake Mead, Nevada
  • As the fleet grows so will locations…More coming soon!
  • Some lakes might only be for certain residence of a town or city
IS THERE A DAMAGE DEPOSIT?
  • Three days prior to each booking
  • Your credit card is pre-authorized for the amount of the deductible
  • This may be applied to any damage or fees not covered by insurance
WHAT IF I HAVE TO CANCEL DUE TO WEATHER?
  • Reservations may be cancelled or postponed due to rain prior to the reservation starting. 
  • Delivery charge will apply if not cancelled prior to boat arriving at the lake
HOW OLD DO YOU NEED TO BE TO PARTICIPATE?
  • 21 years old
  • Must have a valid driver’s license on file
ARE PETS ALLOWED ON THE BOATS?

No pets are allowed on any boats in the fleet. 

HOW LONG CAN I RESERVE A BOAT FOR?
  • As long as the boat is available
  • Anywhere from 1 to multiple days
  • Must be in full day increments 
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN A BOAT RESERVATION?
  • Boat delivery at designated time, 8 hour use of boat, Boat pickup at designated time
  • Boats are equipped with coast guard required equipment.
  • Basic type II adult PFDs are included, however we recommend that you bring your own life jacket for water activities while using the boat.
  • Children under 13 MUST have a PFD on at all times while in the boat or the water, having one specifically for them is mandatory. 
  • All included coast guard equipment must remain on designated boat. (Checked out and verified that it is on the vessel. Client is responsible for any lost equipment.)
  • A full tank of gas upon departure 
CAN I CONSUME ALCOHOL ON THE BOAT?
  • It is illegal to operate a boat or vessel under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. Insurance does not cover any incidents related to the above.

CAN I SMOKE ON THE BOAT?

Smoking is not allowed on any of the vessels. 

ARE WATER TOYS (ie WAKEBOARDS, SKIS, SURF BOARDS, TUBES, ROPES) INCLUDED WITH THE RESERVATION?

No.

Items can be rented by contacting one of our representatives.

WHERE CAN I PURCHASE MY OWN WATER TOYS, PFD’s etc

The Island Lake Marine Pro-Shop at Cherry Creek State Park and in Fort Collins has a wide variety of water toys and accessories for the whole family. 

  • Buddy Boating members will receive a 10% discount at both these locations. 
CAN BUDDY BOATING PROVIDE A BOAT CAPTAIN?
  •  Based on availability and an additional fee Buddy Boating has approved captains
  • Certain boats may only be available with a captain and is priced in the daily fee
  • Captains must be booked at least 1 week in advance, Call us for more info! 
DO I PAY FOR GAS?

Boats will be sent out with a full tank of fuel. You will be billed for the amount of fuel you used upon retun of the boat. 

WHO CAN OPERATE THE VESSEL?

Only current Buddy Boating members in good standing who have been through training. 

We can always train additional family members to drive if needed! 

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT BOATS ARE AVAILABLE?

When you log in to your Buddy Boating account and make a reservation, boats for your chosen lake will appear. Boat models vary by lake. Our fleet has everything from pontoons, fishing boats, bow riders and water sports boats. 

IS FOOD AND DRINK ALLOWED ON THE BOAT?
  • Food and drink are allowed but everything must be cleaned up when vessel is returned
  • Spills, stains, and excessive clean up will be charged to the member
  • No glass containers allowed. 
  • Be mindful of crumbly and bright colored food and beverages. 
IS INSURANCE PROVIDED?
  • Yes! Buddy Boating vessels are insured (with a deductible) 
  • Approved members/operators are covered by insurance with booking through the Buddy Boating website.
  • Operator is responsible for any deductibles or costs that insurance does not cover.
WHAT'S THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

You must notify Buddy Boating 14 days before your scheduled reservation for a refund of your daily fee. Reach out to a representative for full details.

CAN I KEEP THE BOAT OVERNIGHT?

No. All Buddy Boating rentals are full 8 hour days, they must be returned at the end of each day. You can reserve multiple days in a row. 

HOW MUCH IS THE DAILY USE FEE?

This varys a lot by boat model and membership plan you join. It can be as low as $150, but does increase as you change boat models, membership levels, and dates. Elite members pay NO daily fee for most boats in the fleet. 

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PREMIERE AND ELITE BOAT?

Most boats in the fleet are Premiere boats. We do have a select few “Elite” or luxury boats that are available for an additional fee and may require a captain. This varies by lake so check with you local Buddy Boating outlet for details
